~What is the difference between a newborn lifestyle session and a newborn posing session?

A newborn lifestyle photoshoot and a newborn posing photoshoot differ in style and approach. Lifestyle sessions are typically done at home in a natural environment, focusing on candid, unposed moments that showcase a family’s genuine dynamics. These sessions often include parents, siblings, and pets, using minimal props and emphasizing storytelling over perfection. In contrast, newborn posing photoshoots can be done in an in-home setting with the proper equipment or in a studio and feature stylized, artistic images of the baby carefully posed with props like baskets and blankets. This approach requires the baby to be in a deep sleep and is often done within the first 7-21 days of birth for flexibility and safety. For peace of mind, I have undergone specialized training in newborn posing photography, ensuring the highest standards of safety and care for your infant during each session. Please contact me with any questions you have about the process of newborn posing. Newborn posing photoshoots also can come with posed portraits of the newborn with family.

 

In summary, both styles are beautiful, and many photographers blend elements of each to suit their clients’ preferences. I have special lighting and posing equipment to be able to capture both types of photography within an in-home setting. When booking your session, please make sure you are aware of which style of newborn photography you would like. My newborn + lifestyle photo package combines both styles into one photoshoot within your home.

~Any advice to prepare our kids for a lifestyle photoshoot?

I want your photo session to be authentically you and your family. It's a relaxed environment where I can capture you interacting, playing, laughing and being silly with one another. I will direct you and offer posing prompts throughout however the most genuine moments to capture are those in-between moments of connection. For young children, I suggest bringing along snacks and toys they love and we can pull them out if needed! And if you have a fun idea for a session we could build the activity into your session for example pizza night as a family, ice cream and board games as a family, roasting smores around the camp fire, movie and popcorn night in the backyard, etc! I want to capture your family being you during a lifestyle session, so if you have a fun past time let’s incorporate it into your photo session and let me capture all the candid and genuine moments of connection!

~My home is so dark! How do you handle photographing in different in-home locations?

 

Leave this part to me as your photographer! I have the equipment and experience to capture whatever vibe you are looking for and will ask you your preferences when planning out the session. I come to every in-home photography session with my speed light flash as well as my soft box light and diffuser that can light up an entire room for group shots; it's so powerful (though we do not have to use it at full power mode). Think of it as the studio lighting coming to you! I also like to utilize natural light from windows (I prefer natural light so my goal while using a soft box light and speed light flash is to make it look like natural light) Lastly, booking your in-home session at the right time of day is also important, for example, if you know that you get morning light in a particular room you would want the session in, it's best to book your session in the morning.

~How do we schedule a photo session with you?

 

Please fill out the contact form here and I'll be in touch soon! Once we decide on photo package and location, there will be a $75 non-refundable deposit as well as a signed contract required at booking in order to secure your date and time. (If you need to reschedule your photo session, deposits are transferrable for up to 1 calendar year from the original booking date).

 

~What is your turn around time for delivering photo galleries?

 

 Photo galleries are delivered within two weeks of the shoot, if not sooner. Sometimes life happens though and I'll reach out if I do not think I will make that time frame. If you need a rush on your gallery, mention to me about rush order delivery and and in most cases we can work something out.

~How are photos shared with clients?

 

Photo sessions will be emailed as a private digital gallery. Once sent, clients will be able to select photos, download, and purchase printed photos to share with friends and family! Your online gallery also contains a shop tab for photo gifts you can design. Please inquire if you would like me to design a lay flat or fine art album for you to purchase after your session.

~Who supplies the outfits or props?

​

For family, individual and maternity sessions, you will be provided a style guide and outfit assistance;

feel free to use it as a guideline and I can help you through the outfit planning process.

​

For newborn and milestone sessions we can discuss theme and wardrobe prior to the session and come up with a plan.  I then send a newborn prep guide out. I supply baskets, blankets and swaddle wraps as well as a client closet for newborn clothing at no additional cost however there may be additional fees for other personalization such as milestone smash cakes from a local bakery, balloon towers, number signs, garland, small pieces of furniture, etc.

~Do you charge a travel fee?

​

If sessions are scheduled in the Metro Detroit area approximately 20 miles or less from my home in Farmington Hills, then no I do not charge a travel fee. If you would like me to travel beyond the Metro Detroit area, then yes a travel fee is added on a case by case basis with the exception of mini sessions. If I elect to organize mini sessions out of the Metro Detroit Area, there is no additional travel fee for me.

 

~What if we do not see a package that fits our needs?
